Peer Roundtables and Peer Learning Groups

Owner/Executive Roundtables:

The cornerstone of our Roundtable program is the Owner/Executive Roundtable. By assembling groups of non-competing companies, BMSA allows owners to have a safe space to analyze key financial indicators, staffing, and long term planning that are crucial to the success of their businesses, and providing participants with useful benchmarks for growth. These meetings are facilitated by a seasoned lumber and building materials industry expert and designed to challenge and support the members in their goals. 

Sales Manager Roundtable:

Managing the sales function can be a challenging mix of financial acumen, people skills, and a firm knowledge of products and how they can best be utilized by the customer. The networking and solution-sharing opportunities offered by industry peers in this Roundtable  help sales leaders take their sales to the next level.

CFO Roundtable:

Designed for Chief Financial Officers and those with financial responsibility, Roundtable members can earn up to 12 hours of CPE (continuing professional education) credit for AICPA and NASBA Certification requirements. Facilitated by Roger Bates, the CFO of Tindell's Building Materials, these meetings allow CFO members to truly discuss in a safe environment their companies' success and challenges.

Operations Manager Roundtable:

This roundtable encompasses topics that involve day-to-day operations of running a business in the lumber and building material industry. Whether discussing incentive plans, use of technology, load checking or fleet management, this group provides insights into the LBM industry’s best operational ideas and practices.

Purchasing Manager Roundtable:

Designed specifically for managers tasked with purchasing function in their companies, this roundtable covers topics ranging from special order buying to hedging and basis trading. By learning from others with similar job functions and challenges, participants can further develop the skills needed to help enhance the bottom line in their operations.

Installed Sales Roundtable:

Installed Sales are a service model in the lumber and construction industry where the supplier doesn’t just sell materials—they also arrange or provide professional installation. This gives builders and homeowners a single, accountable source for both products and labor, helping streamline projects, control costs, and reduce scheduling and quality issues. In this Roundtable, members from different companies will discuss the challenges and benefits of different install programs such as exterior doors, windows, bathroom remodels, etc. 

Human Resources Roundtable:

At the HR Roundtable, Human Resources professionals will discuss recruitment and hiring, benefits administration, regulatory compliance, company culture and much more. Roundtable members submit topics for discussion prior to each meeting. In other words, you set the agenda for your meeting. This ensures the pressing issues in your world are addressed at the meeting. 

Peer Learning Groups:

Peer Learning Groups (also referred to as PLGs) are one-shot versions of Roundtables. PLGs will focus on a topic (like Safety for example) and those interested in the topic will be invited for a 1 day drive-in style event to talk with peers on aspects of the overall topic, led by a Facilitator who is a subject matter expert of the topic in discussion.
