The memberships of both the Ohio Construction Suppliers Association (OCSA) and the Southern Building Material Association, Inc. (SBMA) have voted to merge their two organizations. OCSA represents lumber and building material suppliers in Ohio. SBMA. represents lumber and building material suppliers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The merger will become effective in early 2014. The new organization, Building Material Suppliers Association, Inc. will be headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.
OCSA President George S. Miser of Lumber Service, Inc in Carrollton, Ohio said, “This merger of OCSA with BSMA is a great opportunity for Ohio’s independent dealers to have a stronger association to serve their needs. All the services that are offered now will still be available to our members with even more services than we had before and with a lower dues structure. I am excited to meet and network with the many new members of our new association.”
Jon Stier, Chairman of SBMA and owner of Stier Supply in Columbia and Irmo, South Carolina reports that the merger will help both organizations serve their members at a higher level. Stier will serve as the first Chairman of SBMA.
SBMA President Larry Adams will become president of SBMA while Lynn Schwarz, currently OCSA’s Executive Vice President, will be SBMA’s Executive Director.
